Bio
Shawn Snow was born in 1974 and currently lives and works in Troy, New York. He received his BFA from Rochester Institute of Technology in 1996. Snow worked for many years as an artist paint maker and workshop instructor, honing his knowledge of a wide range of artist materials and techniques. This year he has solo exhibitions at the Sand Lake Center for the Arts, Averill Park NY, and the Carrie Haddad Gallery, Hudson NY. His work is part of many corporate and individual collections.
Over the past decade and a half, Snow has steadily worked to refine his vision and process. His paintings have evolved from the raw primitivism of the late 90's, to the expertly handled traditional techniques that he incorporates today. As the culture moves toward greater complexity, Snow's work gives us clarity and simplicity.
Snow has worked in a variety of media including painting, printmaking, illustration, music, and video. He is currently collaborating with a number of artists to create a multi-media project that incorporates many of these influences, into a multichannel, sound and video experiment.
